i took old guitar strings and i made a bracelet which is hard to take off.. is it ok to get it wet bc i wana shower with it and i wash my hands a lot…
Actually it’s the other way around, the thin ones are more likely to rust. That is because they are steel, with no winding around them. Steel contains iron, and iron + water + oxygen = rust.
The bigger strings have a steel core but with a winding around them, usually bronze or aluminum (which do not contain iron and thus will not rust). The winding will protect the steel core from water and air — not 100% protection of course, but a lot more than the “naked” thin strings.
