lil wayne was born on September 27th, 1982 in New Orleans, LA. He is widely known as Lil Wayne in the entertainment industry. a variety of other nicknames, namely; Weezy F Baby, Weezy, Birdman Jr., or just simply Dwayne Carter, although this one isn’t used that much.

Dwayne Carter got started in the rap industry almost 15 years ago, at the tender age of 11. His chance meeting with CEO & owner of Cash Money Records, Ronald “Slim” Brian is what got him interested in the rap industry. Weezy eventually dropped out of high school to fully pursue a career in rap music, after another Cash Money executive, Baby Williams, signed the young boy to the record label. Lil Wayne has been on Cash Money ever since. Wayne grew up with a stepfather who owned an unregistered handgun, with which Lil Wayne shot himself accidentally as a young boy. Upon questioning by the authorities the identity of the gun’s owner was revealed. His stepfather was subsequently jailed for owning an unregistered gun. Sadly, he didn’t last long after his release from prison. In memory of his stepfather he got “In Memory Of Rabbit: It’s Up To Me.” tattooed on his arm. Baby has acted as a father-figure towards Lil Wayne ever since the untimely demise of the latter’s stepfather.

He released his first album when he was only 16, and it was entitled “The Block Iz Hot”. Four more albums followed. Now he is gearing for his most-anticipated offering to date, Tha Carter 3. In the meantime Lil Wayne has been featured in countless other songs by other artists such as Fat Joe, Robin Thicke, and even Jay Z, whom he had previously challenged as a rapper. In 2007 alone he released more than 77 songs on various mixtapes, a feat that no other recording artist has accomplished.
